At The Agape Table, we are healing, educating, and activating to create a South Carolina where every LGBTQIA+ person belongs.

Our Vision

We envision a South Carolina that prioritizes equity and belonging as the centerpiece of community.

We believe that our LGBTQIA+ family is worthy of love and deserving of human dignity no matter the setting, circumstance, or interaction.

We will work until every queer person in South Carolina is promised a seat at the table of grace exactly as they are, every single time.

We are pursuing a more welcoming South Carolina through educational cohorts, arts partnerships, retreats, facilitated dialogue, and story-centered connections.

Agape Cohort

The Agape Cohort gives you the opportunity to learn queer history, confront the queer experience, and reflect through facilitated dialogue. Cohorts consist of no more than 12 individuals who are dedicated to intensive education and intentional vulnerability.

Arts Partnerships

Art tells a story. From photography to spoken word, film to theatre, poetry to print, art is deeply connected to the human experience. It is yet another avenue of storytelling that can persuade the heart.

Dinner Dialogues

It is difficult living authentically in a society where you are not welcome. Only two things change that - education and proximity. One can no longer be a moral degradation, a political talking point, or a theological topic when they are sitting across the table from you. If you are honoring their seat at the table, then their humanity matters. Their existence matters. Their story matters.

The Centerpiece

The centerpiece of our table is rooted in grace and love. Because of that, we choose to acknowledge the following:

  • Your seat at the table is just as valuable as mine. I choose to honor your presence and respect your voice being heard.
  • Your humanism is worth more than my desire to be right. I am not required to agree, but I am required to listen, learn, and love.
  • Our stories can create change. I will make a conscious effort to be vulnerable and to thoughtfully recognize your vulnerability.
